The Evolution of Viral Videos

The evolution of viral videos is definitely progressing and the proof is in the…dance?

The most popular viral videos are humorous and random. They are shared by many and become not only a topic of small conversation but also a hot topic in the news.

Cleveland native, Judson Laipply, is a 30-year old comedian/motivational speaker. This video, "The Evolution of Dance," was taped during one of his speaking engagements and after being put on YouTube, in April, has been seen over 18 million times, making it the site’s most viewed video ever. He also performed a small segment on the Today show last week. Not only has this attracted a huge audience but has also connected Laipply to old, lost friends. This is the true power of the viral.

Laipply’s goal as a motivational speaker is to first make people laugh and gain their attention and then get them to think. Well he certainly has made many laugh and I am sure they are now thinking, “I wonder when part 2 is coming?” Well think no more, Laipply claims it is in the works so look for the, “Evolution of Dance Revisited.”
