Elements of Viral Strategy

According to Web Marketing Today not every viral marketing campaign will produce the same results; each is different in its own way. The following elements are not necessary for each campaign but there will be a better chance of effectiveness with the more elements that are included.

Elements of a Viral Marketing Strategy include:

1. Gives away products or services-
Nothing is more attractive to consumers than something that is free, in turn, making the message more appealing to consumers.

2. Provides for effortless transfer to others-
The ease of sharing is very important. If it is simple to pass along and share, many would be willing to participate and the reach will be much larger.

3. Scales easily from small to very large-
The point of viral is to spread and spread quickly. The distribution must be simple and easy to cover a large amount of reach in a short amount of time.

4. Exploits common motivations and behaviors-
Use something that is appealing to many. Humor proves to be very popular; many want to share humorous things to spread the laughter. Also, many are seeking recognition and popularity so if it will help them connect with others and get noticed, more will be willing to share.

5. Utilizes existing communication networks-
Placing the message into areas where people are already networking will help increase a reach to the masses.

6. Takes advantage of others' resources-
The more ground covered, the farther the reach.
If the campaign is positioned in multiple places, it will obviously have the chance to reach a larger number and range of people.
