Capturing a target audience is one of the biggest challenges for marketers. It is extremely hard to stand out amongst the 3,000 marketing messages that each person is exposed to everyday. Finding new ways that are very original and may catch your audience off-guard is a key factor to catching consumer’s attention

There is a company who has created a marketing tool to place in urinals that can either show pictures or play a message while men are using the bathroom. This is a good way to shock the consumers and grab their attention. You will have their undivided attention while they view images or listen to the message, which will not only catch them off-guard, but also come across as very humorous. This will give them a better chance at remembering your message. This may not be appropriate for every business due to the location, but it is a great opportunity for marketers wanting to reach out to this certain demographic.

Advertising on parking spot strips are also a new way to reach out to consumers. Visa, Addidas, American Express, and Cingular are just a few of the companies that are using the Parking Stripe advertising as another way to reach out to their potential customers. It is a new way that has not been swarmed with marketing messages and it stands out and grabs consumer’s attention and increases the chances of staying fresh in their minds.

How long will these “new” marketing tactics be fresh and innovative before they are regularly clouding our world? Probably not that long since everyone is looking for “new” ways to market their product, business and services but it is worth a shot at a chance to connect with consumers. Originality, the element of surprise, and creating buzz are a marketing must! What will we think of next?!?
